(Halifax, NS) – Bill Casey has been acclaimed as the Liberal candidate for Cumberland North and will represent the Nova Scotia Liberal Party in the next provincial election.
Bill Casey served seven terms as the Member of Parliament for Cumberland-Colchester where he collaborated with all levels of government to make positive change for his constituents. Bill is committed to bringing the unique issues of the region to the forefront of the government decision-making table.
“The people of Cumberland North deserve an effective representative who listens to their concerns and advocates on their behalf. I am committed to being that person if elected,” said Casey. “I am fortunate to have strong connections with my former federal colleagues and municipal government which will allow me to be a strong advocate as I focus on provincial issues.”
Bill understands the importance of tackling the imminent threat that climate change poses to the people of Cumberland North. As MP for the area, Bill worked with all levels of government to ensure the important transportation link to Cumberland North and Westmorland County is not jeopardized due to the ongoing climate emergency. Bill’s experience will position him to be an effective leader on issues such as post-pandemic economic recovery, climate change, and strengthening the relationship of Cumberland North with the entire province.
“I am honoured to have former MP Bill Casey join our team for the next provincial election,” said Premier Iain Rankin. “Bill has tremendous experience representing the needs of his constituents and I know he will bring his expertise and dedication to our new Liberal government. Cumberland North will be well-served with Bill Casey as their MLA.”
