Thousands of Liberal delegates from across Nova Scotia cast votes in this leadership election. A total of 95.9% of eligible delegates voted, culminating in Zach’s victory as announced at convention this evening.
With over a decade as an elected official and experience in several senior cabinet positions, Zach will be a strong leader of the Official Opposition as we build our case to take back government in 2025.
“I am honoured to be chosen by our membership as the next leader of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party,” said Churchill. “These past few months have reinforced what I’ve always known: our party is full of smart, dedicated people who want to see our province and its people succeed.”
“My victory would not have been possible without the love and support of my family and the tireless dedication of my campaign team. To them, a sincere thank you,” said Churchill, “I also want to recognize Angela Simmonds and her team, who ran an outstanding campaign and deserve respect and admiration from all of us.”
The next provincial election is three years from now. The clock is ticking and, as Liberals, we must be ready in all 55 districts. The future of our province is too important to leave in the hands of the Houston Conservatives who have failed to deliver on their signature promise to fix health care. They refuse to help Nova Scotians weighed down by the cost-of-living crisis, they haven’t put forward a plan to deal with our province’s labour shortages, and they have failed to deliver solutions to the housing crisis.
