Houston government leaves Nova Scotians on their own as COVID-19 spirals out of control

At the most recent COVID-19 press conference on December 21, Premier Houston abdicated responsibility for controlling the spread of the pandemic, letting Nova Scotians know that they are on their own.

The Houston government’s failure to act swiftly and decisively has allowed the COVID-19 pandemic to completely spiral out of control.

Today, the government reported 581 cases, but with the rollback of PCR testing, Nova Scotians can’t know just how far it has spread. The reported number also doesn’t include the number of people who tested positive by rapid test.

“In Nova Scotia, COVID-19 is spreading the farthest and fastest in the country,” says Liberal Leader Iain Rankin. “The Houston government has promised to fix healthcare. Right now, the biggest threat to the health of Nova Scotians is COVID-19.”

Since the most recent COVID-19 briefing, Nova Scotians haven’t heard from Tim Houston.

During the height of the third wave lockdown, the Liberal government held a press conference at least twice weekly to reassure Nova Scotians as they navigated a challenging time.

“Nova Scotians deserve to know what the Houston government is doing to stop the spread of this virus and prove that they are working to get this under control, but they haven’t spoken to Nova Scotians in nearly a week,” says Rankin.

It turns out that this government not only believes in trickle-down economics, but trickle-down responsibility as well.
