Our New Executive Director: Alxys Chamberlain

Our New Executive Director: Alxys Chamberlain

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party, it gives me great pleasure to announce that our new executive director will be Alxys Chamberlain.

After an extensive arm’s-length search with a professional recruiter, assisted by a search committee appointed by the board, we have selected Alxys as the candidate best-suited to carry out our goals of renewal, re-energization, and readiness to govern in 2025.

Alxys obtained a Bachelor of Social Work Degree (with distinction) from Dalhousie. She has worked for the Government of Nova Scotia as the executive assistant to the Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage, Seniors and Gaelic Affairs; for the Liberal Party of Canada as atlantic senior field organizer; and ran as the federal Liberal candidate for West Nova in the 2021 campaign.

As a candidate for nomination in Kings West, Alxys effectively doubled its membership. She has held substantial roles on several by-elections, leadership campaigns, and provincial and federal general elections throughout the province. Her superior communication skills include extensive French-language training.

As Alxys wrote,

I have dedicated my professional career and personal time to the Liberal Party. I have seen first-hand the importance of fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment and the work needed to break down existing barriers. I can and will make it a priority to champion inclusivity within our Party. This is truly the opportunity of a lifetime. J’ai hâte de travailler avec vous.

I look forward to welcoming Alxys and our new Leader, Hon. Zach Churchill, to our board meeting this Sunday.

Thank you to all members for your support of our board and party, and to the thousands of delegates who recently came together to elect our new Leader.

Together with you and with our new executive director, we are ready to continue our work as an energetic and effective team to rebuild the Party and to be the choice for all Nova Scotians in the next election.

Please join me in welcoming Alxys Chamberlain in her new role – and thank you for being a Liberal.

Sincerely,
Dr. Paul Doucette
