Lorelei previously served as a Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) Councillor for 12 years, and served as Deputy Mayor in 2015. During that time, she participated in the Regional Plan Review and promoted the development of the Cole Harbour Basin Open Space Plan. She represented HRM Council on the boards of the Halifax Partnership, Halifax Water, Trade Centre Limited and Destination Halifax, and the Canadian Urban Transit Association. Lorelei was the second woman to be Deputy Mayor in the Halifax Regional Municipality.
Lorelei was born in the small Acadian fishing village of Petit-de-Grat on Isle Madame on Cape Breton Island. Lorelei and her husband have called Cole Harbour home for over 36 years. In addition to serving on HRM Council, she has been active in the community since this time. She has also served as Chair of School Advisory Councils at all three levels of schools, as a board member of the Cole Harbour Outdoor Pool & Tennis Complex, as the founding Chair of the long running Cole Harbour Harvest Festival, and a member of the board of Cole Harbour Place.
Lorelei serves as Vice Caucus Chair; Shadow Minister for Municipal Affairs; Emergency Management Office. She sits on the Community Services, and Private and Local Bills Committees.
